Inland Port Authority unveils innovation district plan in North Omaha

For decades, the North Omaha community has heard proposed plans that would change the underserved area — promises of new businesses, new jobs and new hope for a part of the city that has largely been overlooked.

Now officials with Omaha’s Inland Port Authority have unveiled a plan to create an innovation district near 30th and Ames. The district would attract institutions, startups and employers.

The plan

The Omaha Inland Port Authority has purchased six acres of land near 30th and Ames. The first phase calls for building an innovation space, with plans to grow from there.
