OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Inland Port Authority officials call it a transformational moment for the city.
The Inland Port Authority board is making plans to put more than $120 million into a part of town that desperately needs jobs, affordable housing and economic development. But this is a song that many who live in the area to be developed have heard before.
Community skepticism based on past promises
In February of last year, Nite Hawkes Café was the location of the first meeting of Omaha neighbors concerned about talks of taking out their homes to build a multimillion-dollar business park near Eppley Airfield.
Dan Hawkes is the fourth-generation owner of Nite Hawkes Café. He tells us plans about revitalizing the area are nothing new.
